South East Kent Astronomical Society

The Observatory houses an 8 inch LXD55-series Meade on a Super Polaris mount with RA and DEC drives. A 497Autostar Computer Runs the Drives. For recording images I use a Philips web cam. I use Registax 4 on a laptop to capture my images.

AsHley Fuggle’s Observatory

Here is my Observatory at the bottom of my garden. Overall it cost about £1000 to build. It is now a run-off roof although it started as a lift-off roof which was a BIG MISTAKE. Lifting the roof on after an observing session was no fun.

I have a small amount of light pollution from nearby lighting that hinders me with faint objects, so I observe bright objects! There were two street lights that gave me big problems but over a three year period of campaigning to the Council, Housing Association and the Highways Department brought results and the offending lamps were reduced in height and shielded.
