Feb           Fri 3rd Public Observing at Simon Langton school for boy’s from 7:30pm

                 If the weather is good and the sky is clear we will be on the play ground in front of the Langton Observatory with telescopes. In case we have

                 bad weather the star centre will be open where there will be films, discussions SEKAS talks etc.


                 Tue 14th ASTROPHYSICS AND THE ANTHROPIC PRINCIPLE Dr Dirk Froebrich at the University of Kent at Canterbury from 7:30pm.

                 Astronomers and other physicists are often asked questions such as ‘Why is the speed of light 299792458 ms‐ 1 and not a little larger or

                 smaller ?’ One typical answer is ‘If it were different we would not exist in our current form to talk about the answer’. In this talk Dr Froebrich

                 will examine the astrophysical implications to some of these questions He will be discussing the ‘Beryllium – 8 problem’ in the nucleosynthesis

                 of carbon in stars . He will look at some of these ‘What if....’ questions. This is a joint Kent Physics Centre lecture, held in Rutherford Lecture

                 Theatre 1, UKC.
